Last Monday, photojournalist Louie Palu screened his film “Kandahar Journals” in the Johnson Center Cinema as part of the Visiting Filmmakers Series sponsored by GMU's Film and Media Studies. The film focuses on Palu’s experiences as an embedded photojournalist in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan from 2006 to 2010.
CHSS scholars Lisa Breglia (Global Affairs), Shannon Davis (Sociology) and Angie Hattery (Women and Gender Studies) presented their posters at the Provost’s annual multidisciplinary research symposium on Friday, February 12th.
The producers made a great choice setting the series in Alexandria in 1862. It’s a place and a time that lends itself to exploring a lot of the really fascinating, complex things that define the Civil War era.
